Sustainability & safety
Koeka goes organic
We are aware of the environmental and health benefits by using organic cotton for our products. Therefore our design and buying team focusses on developing more sustainable products.
Koeka introduced its first line of organic cotton in 2020: Dijon organic. Our second line Riga followed in late 2020 and in 2021 we proudly introduced our lines Portobello and Dijon Daily in organic cotton. In 2022, our collection was joined by three more lines in organic cotton: May, Grainfield and Denver.
“We design and make products for babies and with that in mind we also think of their future and what we can do to safeguard it. By working together with new producers it is now possible to gradually introduce organic cotton in our range.
We are happy to be able to work towards a better future and a healthier world." - Margareth de Haas (founder)
Koeka cares
Because of our attention to sustainability we strive to develop functional, durable products of a high quality standard, which therefore last several years. Our products need secure wrapping and nowadays we use mainly PE, as this is less harmful for the environment & well-being.
Together with the introduction of our new logo in January 2019, we also launched new labels and hang tags on our products. All these new hang tags are made from FSC paper. At the same time, we are also busy replacing our paper inlays from regular paper to FCS paper.
We’ll always search for opportunities to improve.
Because you care
We strive to develop functional, durable products of a high quality standard, which therefore last several years. For that reason, the majority of our products carry the Oeko-tex label. Oeko-tex certification guarantees a certain level of health safety. For instance; it guarantees the materials to be free of harmful chemicals like lead, cadmium & benzene or arsenic. Oeko-tex 100 Level 1- is the highest possible rating which is therefore valid for the most fragile group; babies & children. For our baby & care products, this is our standard. The materials are tested on a yearly basis.
Besides that, all factories we work with are Oeko-tex certified for their working conditions. Our factories are chosen thoroughly. Close contact & frequent visits ensure a solid process. Our products, with only few exceptions, are made in Europe; In fabrics where the working conditions comply with the law. The working conditions are according the standards of the local legislation. We don’t accept bad working conditions & child labour is (off course) not negotiable.
Our products need secure wrapping to ensure the products arrive to our consumers as clean & fresh as possible. Plastic wrapping is still the best way to arrange this. Nowadays we use mainly PE, as this is less harmful for the environment & well-being. We’ll always search for opportunities to improve.
Because of our attention to sustainability, we strive to develop functional products of high quality that will last for several years
